Testimonials
I’ve known Richard since his earliest days in business, when he was using specialist welding processes to successfully repair several large severely cracked industrial engine blocks. This had seemed at the limits of what was possible, but Richard’s methodical well-reasoned approach salvaged a very expensive situation. Typically, his workshop could be busy with rare aircraft parts, sometimes irreplaceable and precious, cracked castings, whole airframes, wooden wing structures, cars, agricultural parts, motorcycles, a yacht rudder, all with unique requirements. He will use his wide repertoire of skills and experience, in most materials, to get to the root cause of failures, to repair and restore, to very exacting standards. In some cases, he will even recommend re- engineering to overcome compromises in the original design. He also has brought to me great insights of metallurgy in selecting challenging performance properties for advanced prototypes in R & D projects that I was involved with at BT. Richard achieved a rapid turnaround while adhering to optimum design specifications. This would never have been possible with our BT in-house facilities. This is why Richard is such a rare find. He will adapt his problem-solving methodologies to applications. When I have occasionally used other welders and engineers, Richard will often come up in conversation, as their default option when work exceeds their own capabilities, or they need advice. What I really value, is not just a soundly restored or constructed item, that was often beyond scope of other engineers, but his no-nonsense advice to match the work to my needs. I can most highly recommend.
