Inspection and Certification Services

Richard is a BGA glider, motor glider inspector and LAA Inspector covering many aircraft typesand engines. He offers maintenance, repair and certification services on these aircraft. He can also carry out new build inspections of LAA aircraft and inspections to first flight. Richard is a class rating instructor and LAA Coach covering all single engine piston aeroplanes and offers differences training, further training and biannual flight reviews. He possesses considerable experience of flight testing modern and vintage types.

Personal note from Richard: I can drive or fly to where an aircraft is based to carry out inspections and assessment of the job. However, for maintenance and repair work of any significance I prefer to fly the customer’s aircraft back to my private hangar near Colchester, Essex, and carry it out there. This gives me an invaluable opportunity to assess the aircraft as a whole. It is surprising what can be picked up on these flights. I am extremely familiar with the flying characteristics of many types of aircraft and know how they should be performing.

I was first introduced to Richard Kimberley a number of years ago by a good friend after I
purchased an Isaacs Fury and wanted some technical advice and mentorship. This is by far the best
thing that could have happened to both myself and the Fury and I am eternally grateful that our
paths crossed in this way. Richard has helped me enormously, including making some initial
modifications (new instrument panel) to then completely rebuilding a wing after I suffered a
serious airborne structural failure. His workmanship is second to none and, with a team of
engineers who are experts in their own fields, absolutely nothing stands in their way. I also own a
share in a Jodel and we have recently had some major issues that needed sorting. We elected to
get the aircraft to Richard and he has designed and installed a fantastic new instrument panel.
This even involved utilising a set of instruments that we had acquired second hand, without
documentation and some of which were not working and required TLC.
Richard’s input does not stop once the project is complete, for he will always take a very keen
interest in how you are getting on with the aircraft and make any suggestions that might help.
When you choose to use Richard, not only are you getting the very best engineering input for your
aircraft and at a very reasonable price, you are getting an expert opinion and someone that really
cares about YOU. I believe this is something that is very rare to find these days and it certainly
should be cherished. Thank you for everything you have done for me Richard!

RKS did a fantastic repair of both the wing tip and rudder on my Auster – this involved repairing the internal tubular structure followed by recovering with cloth and finally spraying the damaged areas, blending them into the original to be invisible as possible – a great job.
